Fall is here!

At 5:45 a.m. on a cool Indiana morning, fall arrived!
Woohoo! The weather has already been fallish. Even on days when the temperatures got into the 80’s there was no humidity so it has been very comfortable. I have windows opened wide and am actually cold today. I’m pretty sure I’ll have to close the windows tonight.
We are on day two of the tv blackout and doing well. Jonathan decided to put on his own show starring a stuffed dog and a robot. This is what I was hoping for.

What are you thankful for?

What are you thankful for today?

  1. A roof over my head
  2. Food on the table–or floor, depending on the kids mood.
  3. A church family
  4. Hubby’s good job
  5. That I’ve actually been able to get up early–consistently

TV blackout

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

The “Saturday Soapbox” inspired me to get off my duff. As soon as hubby started getting ready for work, I turned the tv off. Woohoo! Woohoo!
At first the kids pitched a fit, but they adjusted. I turned it on after an hour and a half so they could watch “Reading Rainbow” on PBS. Then it went off again. I also let them watch “Zoom” for half an hour then turned if off again.

I got…

I got to sleep in this morning…till 6:30. It is a sad sad day when I consider 6:30 sleeping in.
I went and visited with my dad today. He took the kids and me out to eat at Wendy’s. Then we visited a newly remodeled Christian bookstore. I added some books to my to-buy list:
~ Rich Mullins: An Arrow Pointing to Heaven by James Bryan Smith
~ Covenant Marriage by Gary Chapman
~ A Love So Big: Anchoring Your Child to the Heart of God by Sheila Walsh

Guarding Hearts and Minds

As Christians we are careful about what we allow to go into our children’s hearts and minds. How do you reflect your Christian beliefs in what you choose to watch and let your children watch on the television?
What about you? What do you watch? What are your favorite shows during the week? Do you ever feel guilty for watching something or do you feel fine about all that you watch each week? 😉
Do you think you could find other ways to spend your time away from the television? If you turned off the television what would you do instead? Maybe you already turn it off – what kinds of things have you found more time for since you turned it off?

I feel…

Friday, November 9th, 2007

(Originally published by Nattie on September 19, 2003)
I feel like I’ve run a marathon.
I’ve been up since 3:30 am.
It is 10:15 pm.
I should have gone to bed at 8:30 when the kids did.
But I wanted to watch the introductory video for “Living Beyond Yourself.”
It was worth staying up for.
I love to listen and watch Beth Moore speak.
She has called me to explanation point living.
I’ll tell you more about that when I’m more coherent.
