I’ve got some kind of cold/sinus infection thingy. So don’t expect any exciting blogs for a few days. Unless of course the Dayquil sets in and I start sharing things like I did last time I had a cold. That was embarrassing.
Instead I’ll share something that Melissa had on her blog—The Dialectizer.

English = The same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him.—Romans 10:12 NIV
Redneck = Th’ same Lo’d is Lo’d of all an’ richly blesses all who call on him, dawgone it.
Fudd = De same Wowd is Wowd of aww and wichwy bwesses aww who caww on him.

Well, it made me laugh.

The Storm Calmer

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

(Originally published by Nattie on May 29, 2004)

…what God gives in answer to our prayers will always be the thing we most urgently need, and it will always be sufficient

One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out. As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.” ~ Luke 8:22-25

God is the same yesterday, today and forever so why can’t he calm a storm today?
I have been thinking about this concept the past few days. We’ve had some severe storms blow through our area. I hate storms. My five-year-old son doesn’t like them either. Sitting in our little safe room during one of the storms he looks at me with all innocence and child like faith and says, “I want Jesus to blow storms away.”
I told him to pray. Then we sang “Jesus Love Me” together.

It is Memorial Day weekend here in Small Town, USA. We aren’t going anywhere, but we do have a birthday party today. And, of course, there will be Indy 500 festivities tomorrow… So I think I’m going to take a blog vacation. Don’t kill me, Dana. It is just a three-day vacation. I’ll be back on Tuesday.
Have a wonderful weekend. Enjoy your friends and family. Be thankful for our freedom and the men who fought for it.

100 Things about me, continued

And I’ll continue on #5…
5. I loathe storms. I don’t mind the thunder, but I live in constant fear of lightning strikes and tornadoes. I can’t be in a storm without jumping at every flash of lightning and don’t even say the words “tornado warning” around me unless you want to see a pile of goo at your feet. I would be the goo. Seriously though, I think I do pretty well with the kids. I pretend to not be afraid. We sit and sing “Jesus Loves Me” at the top of our lungs although they may sense something is wrong when my eyes won’t leave the Weather Channel and I chew my nails. But I do like a light spring storm with no hail or severe ickiness. I even listen to a “Summer Storm” tape on occasion, but that is a tape. It isn’t the real live rolling thunder and crashing lightning.

“Potato” warnings

…all around, and thunderstorm warnings. Don’t like it one bit. Just thought I’d let you know that. Maybe we can mark that as #5 on the things about me list.

Sorry for nodding off. I only got 4-1/2 hours of sleep last night and it hasn’t affected me adversely till now. I just had dinner and…I…feel…very…very…………………………oops, head hit the keyboard.
I intended to blog tonight possibly on my “100 Things About Me” list, but you know what? I’m TIRED! So I’m giving my kids a bath and if I don’t fall asleep while reading to them I will then watch “American Idol.” If I have to I will stick toothpicks under my eyelids. Then I’m breaking the toothpicks and drifting off to la-la land.

I want an “I voted for Fantasia” T-shirt.
Her version of “Summertime” gave me goosebumps and I bawled when she sang “I Believe” by Tamyra Grey.
Go vote! Don’t let her get away.
