Sorry this is off-topic, but I wanted to ask you about Captivating. The idea that has been bothering me is that they believe that woman was the climax of Creation – that somehow the creation of woman was the last and best and that women embody more of God than men do. There was even one sentence that said, “Women are the incarnation of God’s beauty.” To me that seems almost blasphemous. I believe the creation of mankind was the climax of Creation – the creation of humans, man and woman. That both men and women are created in God’s image, and one isn’t more like God than the other.
I understand that they are trying to counter some of popular Christianity’s teaching that keeps women feeling second-best. But I don’t think the answer is to make the statement that women are THE best.
I’d be interested to hear what you think. You can e-mail me or find me at my blog. Thanks!
