TBR challenge

I finally finished a book in the TBR challenge – Through Gates of Splendor by Elisabeth Eliott. I can remember hearing about the story of the 5 missionaries that went to Ecuador and were killed by the Auca’s from a young age. In fact I think I heard the widows on a Focus On the Family anniversary broadcast. I’ve always admired missionaries and their story is particulary gripping. They knew they could die. They knew they would most likely die, but they went anyway because God told them to go. He said the fields were ripe and they said, “Send me.” It is awe inspiring and at the same time makes me feel very very small.
It is not in my TBR stack, but I have the journals of Jim Eliott. I can’t wait to read those. But I must tackle my next TBR read – Bridge to Terebithia. My kids want to see the movie and I have meant to read this book for eons…well, you know the drill. Shoulda. Woulda. Coulda. Don’t!

Hi there! Just moseyed over here to pay you a visit. I saw “End of the Spear” not long ago, and interesting film based on the missionaries’ story. Also, my father-in-law was in Democratic Republic of Congo this past summer and met Elisabeth and Jim Elliott’s daughter Valerie. She’s a missionary, too.
    Makes me feel small, too.
