Favorite verses

I was sharing my favorite Bible verses with an online journaling group, and I thought I’d share them with you, too.
~ “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”–Psalm 34:18
~ “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”–Lamentations 3:22-23
~ “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”–Isaiah 43:2


~ “The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion–to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.”–Isaiah 61:1-3

    I can imagine Nattie joyful in heaven..”You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing to you and not be silent”, dancing with joy, worshiping God…

    I am so sorry for your loss. I am around the same age as your daughter. (born Dec. 1974)
    What I really wanted to tell you is that when we lost my brother at age 33 two years ago, I opened my Bible the next day and found that same verse, as if God wanted to say that very thing to me right at that moment. Amazing. (Psalm 34:18)
