Praying for Hurricane Katrina victims
Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
~ Psalm 139:7-10
I can't even imagine how dark and horrible it seems right now, but God is with you and he wants to see you through. I am praying for all the victims and that you can feel God's presence with you in the depths right now.

That is the perfect psalm for this situation. I have been crying so hard when I see the news footage, and I feel so helpless. :(
Love and Hugs,
Dawn

Beautiful prayer. It is all we can do for now. It just makes me so sad and so thankful all at the same time.

Praying this ancient psalm reminds me not only that God is with us anywhere we find ourselves, but that God always has been with the people and always will be. I pray that the victims of the hurricane will feel God's presence every minute of every day, and that they will see God's work being done here by human hands. I pray for all who have been killed, all who suffer, all who are at risk, all who are injured, sick or both, all who are separated from loved ones, from community, from home. May they each know in a very real way that despite these devastating separations--nothing can separate them from the love of God. *** I pray for the people who work to help others--many of them also suffering losses from this storm/flood/confusion/slow response. *** I pray for the animals and the plants, the land and the water. *** I also pray that we learn from the terrible mistakes made here and do what we can to rectify them--restore the wetlands, and funding, secure levees, make better evacuation plans, institute policies that reduce poverty--really reduce poverty. Much to pray for--thanks for letting me pray with you this day. Peace and blessings to all. Amen.
